Welcome to the online home of Room B-108 for the 2015-2016 School Year.
A Day in the Life will look something like this...
Sunshine Sessions: Students requiring academic support/instruction/review are welcome to sign up for Sunshine Sessions (7:45-8:15am; dates provided on Canvas Calendar) with Mrs. Baker. I work primarily with students in my classes but am available for tutoring in most middle level subjects. Please contact me directly - via email, phone or in-person - to set up tutoring times.
Falcon Time: 8:15-8:42am, students enter the building, organize themselves and their lockers and prepare for the day ahead. We watch FNN (Falcon News Network Television), distribute iPads as necessary and get ready to roll.
Academy: During this time, I will be guiding small groups through Science support articles and re-teaching, to make sure they understand and are keeping up with what we are covering in class.
EEs & Teacher Planning Time: While students attend their assigned elective classes, 8th grade teachers work in planning, department, team and faculty meetings. If a parent/guardian requires a meeting during this time, please call the school office and/or email me to discuss the best time to get together.
Grade 8 Science: The students in these classes will receive instruction in Grade 8 Science. I intent to pre-test the students at the start of each unit (and intermittently throughout, as content deepens), to assess prior knowledge and better prepare lessons and explorations to meet their instructional needs.
After-School Hours: Tutoring is again available after school, though it must be scheduled in advance, as I will also be working with Mock Trial and other extra-curricular programs throughout the year.
